The Jungle pages 150-200

So, Jurgis is injured and looking for work. He found work and started working again, but this job was not very healthy and made him throw up and smell bad, when he was going home people would avoid him because of this. The summer passed. Things were getting extremely hard for the family. They had lost so much hope. Jurgis was still working in horrible conditions. Jurgis then begins to drink and becomes addicted to it, and it was ruining his views of his family that he once so loved, and he had many diseases due to his job. Summer came and went, then fall did too, untill there was winter. In winter Ona has begun to disapear and lie to Jurgis about where she is. Jurgis finds her and is very angry. He forced her to tell him the truth and she did. She had given body to help their family. Jurgis went to kill the man who had mad love to his wife and was arrested. Jurgis went to prison. Well, that ends this part too, right now I would say that they are pretty screwed over, join us next time for page 200-250

The Jungle pages 100-150

Last we left of with the winter coming in and proving to be dangerous and disheartening...Even in this harsh climate they still persevere and continue their attempts at paying for the home. Mean while one of their friends, a girl by the name Marija Berczynskas, has found a love with, get this, the superb musician from the wedding named Tamoszius Kuszleika. So Upton Sinclair did not just put so much detail on this one musician for no reason. The rest of the chapter is mostly about Marija visiting them. Jurgis finds this group, the union, and desires to learn English and pay attention to the country. Throughout the winter Jurgis's pay had dropped from like 9-10 dollars a week to only 5-6 dollars a week, which was barely enough to support them. The chapter passes with more conflict and so does the winter and spring and again comes summer. With summer comes more to work and Jurgis earns more money again. In this chapter they get a bank account, but once again winter comes , and then Jurgis gets injured!! The inlury was bad and inflicted some with his work. Winter goes by and Jurgis is still injured but also still active with the Union. That cover part 3 of this, like always be ready for the next part, pages 150-200!!

The Jungle pages 50-100

This part starts with Jurgis going to work. His job was to sweep the smoked entrails from the animals into a trap. The day was hot, and the place smelled, but Jurgis was still happy and his only thought was that he was earning money. Now they needed a house. They find one that is cheap and get it. The next chapter is mostly explaining their joy in getting a house, and the descriptions of it. They needed more friends, they had a lot of problems still, and needed help. The rest of the chapter is explaining happenings on the neighborhood that they moved into, but they were still determined to continue and payoff for the house. They continue the struggle for the money to pay for the house through the hot, harsh, summer, through fall, and in to the winter that proves to be even more harsh. The Jungle pages 1-50

Upton Sinclair really knows how to appeal to those who love detail in the books, and I bet even those who don't. To me it seems as if she puts a description on every noun. The book starts off with a wedding, between am extremely young women, Ona Lukoszaite, who is is not even sixteen and a strong man, Jurgis Rudkus. At the dinner there are musicians playing, one of them happens to be incredible, and Sinclair goes into such detail describing these men that are so far only in this one chapter. Now, this wedding with the musicians and everything may sound great, but there are problems, Jurges does not have a job and needs one to support him and Ona. With help from a friend Jurgis get a job in the stockyards. Throughout this chapter Sinclair continue to great detial to decribe all of the jobs in the stockyard. That is the end of this part of the story, pages 50-100 is coming soon so watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!
