WHAT A SURPRISE! The man that Jurgis killed...is not actually dead! This part starts with Jurgis in court being trialed for attacking this guy. Jurgis explains everything and then the guy lies about deflowering Jurgis's wife just as you would expect this jerk to do. Jurgis gets sentenced 30 days in prison, things are looking pretty bleak for his family. While in jail, Jurgis's family can't even go to work because of the snow, they are starving and have lost their home. He comes out of jail and find things are worse, the jobs aren't looking good and Ona is dieing. THings are looking horrible, Jurgis is seriously living like a bum now, but soon he gets an opening at the steel mill. Well, this conlcludes this segment, happy reading, next time!
